Case 5 Biosafety-level-IV (P4) laboratory and Biosafety-Level-III (BSL-3) laboratory H2O2 disinfection
Microbiological laboratories are special, often unique work environments that may pose identifiable infectious disease risks to person in or near them. Infections have been contracted in the laboratory throughout the history of microbiology. Published reports around the turn of century described laboratory-associated cases of typhoid, cholera, glanders, brucellosis, and tetanus. Decontamination method is very important for the safety of the biological laboratory.
1. Location
Shanghai Medical College Fudan University, the School of Basic Medical Sciences consists of eleven departments, eight research and teaching units, and an impressive number of key laboratories at various levels.
2. Area disinfection
Cell laboratory
Clean room, normal laboratory, Air shower, Air conditioning system, air condition duct
3. Decontamination method
Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide decontamination method, to do the terminal disinfection
4. Verify
Microbiological samples are collected in two rooms at different points: one room just after patients discharge (T0),one room after H2O2 disinfection(T1).Then handle the samples to third party inspection institution.
